About Sofia
The unintended expat blogger behind Cozy Maple Crest

Hello, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. An expat based in Barcelona, Spain.
A couple of years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn't in the master plan. As with many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, habits formed. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Cozy Maple Crest
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is For (And Not For)
This site Includes:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site Is Not:
- A resource from a tourism authority
- Paid review platform
- A generic travel diary
What Lies Ahead
Our time in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
